Angel Cabrera tees off new Indian golf league

Angel Cabrera and Darren Clarke will be among the 4 major winners in golf who will tee off the city-based golf tournament that will start in India neat month. The new golf format is taken from country’s popular T20 cricket league named Indian Premier League.

Indian golfer Shiv Kapur is the master mind behind this event and the tournament would also see former United States Open champ Michael Campbell, the PGA Championships 2002 champ Rich Beem, Asian Tour player Thaworn Wiratchant and several European Tour champ David Howell.

Recently, while speaking to a news conference, Shiv Kapur said that when he saw the Indian Premier League, he thought it made cricket look cool. So he wanted to do the same thing in golf, without taking away the seriousness of course. The thirty year old golfer told the media that this would be a great scope for the young golfers to team up with some of the top names in golf. It would be an experience they would cherish for the rest of their life.

The tournament is scheduled to start on 8th February and will go for the next two days – till 10th February. It will be played in golf course near Mumbai. Kapur added that they have decided that three-hour round would be ideal from television viewership point of view.

According to the latest online betting, Cabrera is among the favourites to win the tournament, with Unibet making him just over 10/1.

There will also be a team from Colombo, Shiv told that they are starting with 1 team from Sri Lanka and they may add more international franchise in the future.
